In this clip, I\u2019ll offer some advice on just how to go about doing that.<\/p>\n<div class=\"igaudio\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px;\">\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-4374-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/media\/MML\/ConversationsandInvitations.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/media\/MML\/ConversationsandInvitations.mp3\">https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/media\/MML\/ConversationsandInvitations.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Networking tools like LinkedIn are useless if they don\u2019t allow you to make authentic connections with people.<\/h2>\n<p>That\u2019s why I recommend that you have a one-to-one conversation with everyone you <a href=\"https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/leveraging-linkedin\/\">connect with on LinkedIn<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you get an invitation from someone to connect, rather than just accepting, also write them a private note acknowledging their invitation.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t remember meeting them previously, ask them to remind you where you have met before (with apologies that you don\u2019t recall).<\/p>\n<p>If indeed it is the first time you are connecting with them, invite them to tell you more about themself.<\/p>\n<h2>Utilizing LinkedIn in this way is a great networking tool that allows you to build tight knit relationships over time.<\/h2>\n<p>If you notice they have started a new job, gotten a promotion, or had a work anniversary, send them a message of congratulations.<\/p>\n<p>If you see they have relocated or had a name change, <a href=\"https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/your-networking-plan\/\">ask them about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After you have established a relationship and determined someone is interested in what you do, invite them to an initial consultation.<\/p>\n<p>I literally use the word <i>invite<\/i>, and I treat it the same as if I were inviting them to a Superbowl party or a weekend barbeque.<\/p>\n<h2>If you happen to be at an actual party, and you don\u2019t want to get too deep into work stuff, the invitation could involve exchanging business cards with them and making a date for a consultation.<\/h2>\n<p>A sentence I find to be really effective is, \u201cI can help you with that.\u201d You don\u2019t have to go into how you can help; just let them know you can help if they are interested.<\/p>\n<p>When you do this from a genuine human place, and demonstrate that you really do care about them, people can feel the authenticity.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what the best networking tools do.<\/p>\n<p>They allow you the opportunity to create <a href=\"https:\/\/internalgroove.com\/2023dev\/transform-the-job-you-have-into-a-job-you-love\/\">genuine human connections<\/a> that feel good to both parties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is your work situation frustrating you?
