Actions to Take Even on Sad Days

Actions Even On Sad Days

Is getting out of bed sometimes a challenge? Here’s what you can do, even on sad days, to help amp up your motivation and get yourself going…

Self-management

If you have a business or work in a self-directed environment, you know how important (and sometimes challenging) self-management can be.

No matter how good you are at self-management, there will be days when you experience a lack of motivation. And, of course, some of those days will come when you have things that need to get done.

Lack of motivation

It’s tempting when you wake up with a feeling of sadness or lack of motivation to stay in bed. But sometimes staying in bed is just not an option. It’s also not ideal if you want to practice effective self-management, and self-improvement.

Motivation jump start

If you are feeling sad, blue, depressed, or simply not in your internal groove, one of the best things you can do to ignite a sense of motivation is to take action. Even a tiny action can act as a catalyst to get the energy flowing in a more productive direction. And keep in mind: small quickly achievable tasks are best.

Building momentum

When you complete a small, simple task, you gain a sense of accomplishment. It sparks motivation. After one or two micro-tasks, you will find the lack of motivation lessening. Momentum will pick up.

What are some simple tasks you can do to overcome a lack of motivation (even if you’re still in your pajamas)?

  • Send an email to a client.
  • Invite a client to coffee.
  • Post something on social media.
  • Make a follow-up phone call.

If it helps, make a list for yourself of small tasks you can do when motivation is scarce and you don’t want to get out of bed. And remember, small, quickly achievable actions are best. Take one small step, and before you know it, you’ll be out of bed and on your way to a productive day!
