It Takes Two

It Takes Two

If you’re going for an interview, you’d better be prepared to answer some questions. But it is also important that you do some of the asking whether the interview is for your dream job or not. Here are some excellent tips on how and what to ask.

No job interview is a waste of time.

Every interview is an opportunity to become better at interviewing, at the very least.

With this being the case, it is wise to put some effort in preparing for every interview you go on.

Of course, we expect to be blasted with questions in a job interview.

But, an essential part of any job search strategy is being prepared to make some inquiries of your own.

Asking questions in a job interview has multiple positive effects.

Among them, it:

  •     Creates an authentic conversation between you and the interviewer.
  •     Gets the energy flowing.
  •     Allows you to present yourself as an informed, well-researched prospect.
  •     Helps you relax.

My best advice is to have at least three to five general questions to ask.

These should be appropriate for any job you are applying for.

In addition to the general questions, I also recommend that you have one or two that are specific to the job you are applying for. This will require some research.

Luckily, researching a job, company, or position is easy with the internet.

This advice applies whether it is your dream job you are applying for or not.

Every job interview can be thought of as practice for your dream job interview anyway, right?

One question that is always a good one to ask is, “What do you like most about your job?”

This question will create a connection between you and the interviewer. It will also give you some insight into what it is like to work for their company.

After all, you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you.

So keep in mind as you go in for job interviews, the objective is to have a genuine conversation with the person who is interviewing you.

You want to find out if you are right for them, and if they are right for you.
