Making Authentic Connections

Making Authentic Connections

Does the idea of networking make you cringe? Maybe you are going about it the wrong way. In this clip, I’ll explain how you can shift your mindset so selling your product or service doesn’t feel pushy.

The real secret to selling something is making authentic connections.

People make the mistake of thinking they have to be pushy in order to sell their product or service.

I don’t believe in that type of selling.

Why?

Because it doesn’t work!

I have never sold my coaching services.

I have only connected with other people and invited them to work with me.

Making connections is how you sell in a way that feels good, both to you and to the person you are connecting with.

In fact, it’s best to focus on making connections instead of making sales so you don’t come off as annoying.

So how do you make authentic connections?

Simply by being truly interested in what is going on with the other person.

It’s easy to understand why this is the best sales strategy when you think about what it feels like when someone is trying to sell you something.

It’s annoying!

You just want to get away from that person.

I know I do.

Now think about how different the experience is when someone is genuinely interested in what you have to say.

A great place to start making authentic connections is with people you already know.

Start thinking about people you could reach out to from places like:

  • Your neighbors and people you have met through them.
  • People you meet at parties or other events, i.e. kid’s sports games, concerts, etc.
  • Co-workers and people you meet in your job.
  • Acquaintances you make through your friend group.

The way to create an authentic connection with someone is to check in with them and ask how they are doing.

Ask how their family is doing.

Find out what kinds of things they enjoy.

In essence, take a genuine interest in what’s going on in their life.

Just be a caring human. THAT’S the best way to make sales!
