Do you have the entrepreneurial skills and the entrepreneurial mindset to start your own business? Here’s an introduction and brief synopsis of the book, The E-Myth Revisited, a great resource for anyone wanting to start their own business.
One of my favorite books identifies a key concept that is important for any closet or secret entrepreneur to read.
It reveals the entrepreneurial skills and the entrepreneurial mindset required to build a successful business.
The title of the book is The E Myth Revisited, by Michael Gerber. Here’s a short summary:
In order for any business to be successful, three main roles are necessary:
- The technician (the person who does the technical or physical work of the business).
- The manager (the person who keeps track of pertinent details and manages the business).
- The entrepreneur (the person who has the vision, and is the problem solver that pulls things forward).
Each of these three roles is critical.
So, if you are planning an entrepreneurial venture or your business isn’t as successful as you’d like, I recommend this book.
If you are good at all three of these, that’s wonderful.
If you’re good at just one or two of them, you must find a way to fill the other roles.
Some ways to do that include:
- Getting a mentor
- Having a business partner
- Working for someone else
- Hiring someone to work for you
I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to outsource jobs and responsibilities that are not in your wheelhouse.
Trying to do these things without outside help will eventually lead to burnout syndrome.
It will leave you doubting yourself, comparing yourself and your business to others, and blaming yourself for your lack of success.
This is a recipe for misery!
It is also important to understand that, if you don’t possess all three of these qualities, this is not a reason to feel inadequate.
It is simply an opportunity to be honest about where your strengths and talents lie so you can concentrate your energy in those areas.
Standing in your truth about what you are good at and what you need help with is how you stay in alignment with your business goals.
Is your work situation frustrating you? Do you hate your job, but have no idea what to do instead? Attempting to navigate those waters without support is not fun (yes, I do know, but that’s another story). I’m excited to announce that I’ve created The Job I Love Toolkit, with all the resources you’ll need to finally clarify how to get paid to do you.TM To be the first to hear more details, join the VIP Wait List.
And if you know a friend or neighbor who could use hearing the advice in this article or needs The Job I Love Toolkit, please forward this to them.
