Are you thinking of starting a business? If so, it’s important to determine whether or not you have an entrepreneurial mindset. Here’s why.
Entrepreneur minds have specific qualities and traits that make entrepreneurship enjoyable for those who have them. On the other hand, if you do not have an entrepreneurial mindset, you may not be happy as an entrepreneur.
If you are thinking of starting your own business, I urge you to take steps to determine whether you are an entrepreneur-minded person or not.
My Career Pathway
I discovered that I had an entrepreneurial mindset when I owned a business many years ago. So when I decided to leave my corporate position to start the process of burnout recovery, I already knew I would probably be embarking on a new business venture. I just didn’t know what it would be.
The next step was self-discovery. I did a lot of exploration to determine what my next career transition would be. I had to reinvent myself. In the process, I walked through many of the pitfalls, fears, and doubts I help clients overcome now.
The Entrepreneurial Bone
I was born with what I call the entrepreneurial bone, which is another way of saying I have an entrepreneurial mindset. I believe it’s something we all either have or don’t, and I jokingly tell my clients that I can take an x-ray to determine if they have it.
It’s important to know whether you have entrepreneur traits and qualities before you decide to start your own business. Because if you don’t, you may not be happy as an entrepreneur. Determining this requires asking yourself deep questions and being really honest about what the answers are.
Keep in mind, there is more to entrepreneurship than wanting to be your own boss. Trying to escape a job you don’t like or a boss you don’t get along with are not good enough reasons to start a business!
