Career transition coaching is a big part of what I do. Do you feel it’s time to transition to a new career? If so, you’ll learn what the important first step is here.
Before inviting someone to work with me, I do a free one-hour consultation to determine whether we are a good fit.
Whether they are looking for career transition coaching, relief from burnout syndrome, or just a little direction and guidance on their career path, I only invite clients whom I believe will resonate with my coaching style and process.
I want to be sure they are prepared and willing to do the inner work so we can achieve the results they are hoping for.
During the consultation, there are certain things I listen for. Some things I can hear with my ears. Others I hear by using my x-ray hearing to read between the lines.
One of the biggest things I listen for is how they speak to themselves.
That is usually revealed in how they convey the stories of their life experiences.
Once I get an idea of how they speak to themselves, I can see where their pitfalls are, how much personal power they are claiming, and what might be tripping them up.
When I reveal what I’m hearing, one of two things happens:
- They are silent because they are stunned that I got it on the first try, or…
- They are in tears because they feel like they have been seen and heard.
Usually, the pitfalls and trip-ups I reveal are things they are aware of. They just don’t know how to change or do things differently.
If I invite them to work with me, this is where we start the process. I call it putting out the fire when their hair is on fire. This requires self-discovery and inner work, because most of our challenges can be alleviated by addressing what’s going on inside before changing our outer circumstances.
If you are interested in career transition coaching, I encourage you to prepare to do the challenging yet rewarding inner work of self-discovery and self-mastery.
