Quit the Comparison Game

Are you trapped in the comparison game? That endless loop where you measure your worth against others and end up feeling inadequate? It’s a game that never reveals the full picture and, in reality, there’s no such thing as competition. Here’s my advice on how to break free from the comparison game.

Embarking on the entrepreneurial journey is like stepping into a thrilling adventure of self-discovery and personal growth.

But it can also turn into a soul-sucking comparison game if you become too focused on what others are doing.

You know what I mean if you are an entrepreneur who plays the comparison game. MANY entrepreneurial-minded people get stuck comparing themselves to other business owners and what they call their competition.

In the comparison game, there are only winners and losers. But we can all be winners in the real world because we all offer something different.

Even if thousands of entrepreneurs do what you do, no one else offers what you offer with your unique energy and style.

This is why the comparison game is a waste of time and energy, and there is no such thing as competition.

Run Your Own Race!

I am reminded of horses in horse races that wear blinders.

They know that other horses are running alongside them, but because of the blinders, they stay focused on THEIR goals and vision, where THEY are going, and where THEIR feet will land next instead of looking at what everyone else is doing.

It’s a fast trip down a rabbit hole of discontent when you start surfing entrepreneurs’ websites in your same industry to figure out what they are doing.

Your truth will always guide you in the right direction. You are not standing in your truth when you compare yourself to others.

Just get paid to do you.

Do YOUR version of what makes YOU happy, what meets YOUR clients’ needs, and what makes YOU most successful.

That will be different at different stages of your business.

Sometimes, it makes sense to turn up the faucet and go full force because it’s the right season, you have the ideal backing, favorable investments, etc.

Other times, you may need to slow your business down to a trickle to focus on other life issues that require your energy and attention.

Each of us has our own race and our own pace.

We have different styles and strengths.

Our essence is different.

We have different life circumstances to navigate.

Our core values and needs vary.

Even our body clock is different.

So stop worrying about what other people think or believe, how they run their businesses or any other kind of comparison. Put the rope down in the tug-of-war of who’s winning and losing, and quit the comparison game!

Honor the pace, timing, and style that work for you!
