What Are You Grateful For?

What Are You Grateful For

What are you grateful for? Expressing gratitude has many benefits. In this audio snippet, I’ll give you a great way to use gratitude when you want to shift your energy from chaos to calm.

You don’t have to keep a gratitude journal to utilize the healing and balancing power of gratitude in your daily life.

Any time you are feeling upset and wishing you could find some calm, inner peace, gratitude can be a wonderful tool for shifting your energy.

This is because, very often, feeling upset is not about something that is happening in the present moment.

It’s usually about either:

  1. Something that happened in the past that you are replaying in your mind.
  2. Something you are expecting to happen in the future that is out of your control.

The first step you can take to move out of the uncomfortable feelings and into a more calm mental space is to be in the moment.

Ask yourself a few key questions.

  • Do you have what you need right now?
  • Are you fed?
  • Are you loved?
  • Are you supported?
  • Are you safe?

Acknowledging that your basic needs are covered in the present moment will help to center you so you can look at the upsetting situation from a more balanced perspective.

The next step is to celebrate.

And if that feels like too much of a stretch, simply think of something (or things) you are grateful for or proud of even if they are tiny things, like going for a walk on your lunch break, noticing a beautiful tree, or smiling at the cashier at the grocery store.

It’s okay to still have tears flowing while you are thinking about these things.

Anything you can think of that gives you a sense of gratitude or a good feeling about yourself will help shift your energy and start moving you out of chaotic thoughts and into a place of peace and calm.
