Is your self-worth bank account overdrawn? Here’s a self-care 101 tip for keeping yourself out of the red zone.
Do you have a daily self-care routine?
Do you make your physical and emotional needs a priority?
Answering yes to those two questions is self-care 101.
Knowing when to practice self-care is the key to avoiding burnout.
Ideally, you do it BEFORE your tank gets too low.
You know what I mean, right?
When you are exhausted, when you feel bitter about daily tasks, when everything seems like too much, when you start taking your frustrations out on your family and friends, these are all signs that you have not been practicing self-care 101.
Keeping yourself peaceful, calm, and able to handle daily challenges gracefully requires making self-care part of your daily routine.
And yes, it is possible (and so important) to practice self-care when experiencing stress or challenges, such as losing a job.
Your Self-Worth Bank Account
Taking care of yourself raises your self-worth.
It’s like a bank account.
Every time you do something to take care of yourself, you make a deposit to your self-worth account.
It works just like a financial bank account. If you make too many withdrawals and not enough deposits, you get overdrawn.
What are some ways you can make deposits to your self-worth bank account?
Some of my favorites from my self care checklist are:
- Going for a nature walk.
- Getting a pedicure.
- Having a nice evening out with my husband.
- Taking a bath.
- Speaking to myself with kindness and compassion.
Other self-care 101 activities include eating healthy and getting enough sleep.
A great perk of keeping your self-worth bank account in the black is its correlation with your net worth.
Yes, self-worth is directly related to net worth!
Go ahead and test it out. See how your financial bank account grows as you prioritize keeping your self-worth bank account balanced.
