Are you standing in your truth? Do you know what is right for you and what isn’t? In this audio clip, I’ll delve into the transformative power of knowing and being in alignment with your truth, a strategy that can fuel your personal growth and self-empowerment.
In the workplace, as with any place where we interact with other humans, being in alignment with our truth is a crucial first step in getting our needs met.
Having a clear understanding of your needs and desires is a tool for self-empowerment because when you are clear about what is right for you, you know some key things that will assist you in getting your needs met, such as:
- What requests to make of others
- What negotiation processes to initiate
One instance where this comes into play is when you are considering a position at a company.
This is the time to ask for and negotiate for the salary you need, want, and deserve.
Many people fail to take advantage of this opportunity to negotiate a starting salary.
Clarifying what you need is just as important when you’ve been with a company for multiple years.
It’s not just about negotiating a raise. It could also be about negotiating a new position or requesting to take on a project that interests you.
The beauty of this is that many new possibilities can open up for you when you know what you want and need and are willing to empower yourself by asking for it.
Even if it’s a request you don’t think your company will accept, you often will get what you ask for.
But you certainly won’t get it if you aren’t standing in your truth and willing to ask.
For instance, I have helped clients negotiate splitting their time and energy between two different departments in the same company because their interests expanded into areas that weren’t so obvious when they were first hired.
So, do the inner work to clarify what you need and want for fulfillment and happiness.
Armed with this self-understanding, and a willingness to ask for what you need, you can create a life and career that resonates with the deepest parts of who you are.
