Perfectionism Recovery

Are you too hard on yourself? If so, you may be a candidate for perfectionism recovery. In this audio clip, I’ll give a slightly spiritual perspective on perfectionism and what it could be here to teach you.

Perfectionism recovery is a process many of us could benefit from undertaking.

I have addressed this pitfall of modern life with many of my clients.

Our outer world mirrors our inner world.

What I mean by that is our thoughts and feelings about ourselves are reflected back to us.

For instance, if you do a project at work and then focus on all the flaws and imperfections, you may find that your employer notices the flaws when you present the project.

This isn’t because you are expected or required to be perfect at all times. You put that energy out there by expecting yourself to do it perfectly.

Perfection is an unreasonable expectation because we live in an imperfect world.

But when you believe it’s achievable, you hold yourself and others to that ludicrous standard.

This tendency creates harsh judgments against yourself and others.

Perfectionism can suck the joy out of everything you do, and it can affect the harmony of all your relationships.

My suggestion to anyone needing perfectionism recovery is to focus on whether or not they are doing the best they can instead of whether or not they are doing it perfectly.

It’s all we have at any given moment.

I’m not a spiritual coach, but I often highlight the spiritual aspects of my clients’ habits and patterns to help them better understand the inner mechanics of the situation.

Regarding perfectionism, I’d like to remind you that the goal of life is NOT perfection.

If you are a perfectionist, I encourage you to explore the possibility that you signed up for this life to learn how to be at peace with yourself in exactly the state you are in, no matter what.

Learning to honor your self-worth no matter the circumstance may take some inner fortitude, but it is well worth the effort.

It will contribute significantly to your personal and spiritual growth and improve your satisfaction quotient in all areas of life.
