Do you get to utilize your natural gifts and talents in your work? Here’s why doing so is one of the biggest factors for job satisfaction.
Does Your Best Self Shine in the Work You Do?
If you are experiencing burnout syndrome, a contributing factor could be that your natural gifts and talents aren’t an integral part of what you do.
In my line of work, I see this all the time.
There are so many people working in jobs or fields that do not allow them to use the parts of themselves that align with their core values.
These parts are their gifts and talents, i.e., skills and strengths that come naturally to them.
Standing In Your Truth
The things that we are naturally good at are almost always related to our life purpose.
They reflect the work we were meant to do.
When we are involved in work and careers that do not honor these things, our best self is not allowed to shine.
Staying in a job where your most valuable gifts and talents are not put into play is the opposite of standing in your truth.
If you are setting aside your truth, every day, day in and day out, there’s no wonder you are not happy. It’s like putting your best self on a shelf or in a closet with duct tape over her mouth.
Imagine an otter that was denied the opportunity to swim, or a tiger that was raised by a flock of sheep.
If you are feeling burned out in your current job, ask yourself some questions.
Discern whether your natural gifts and talents are being honored, valued, and utilized.
If your company or your current role doesn’t celebrate the things that come naturally to you, it doesn’t mean the company is bad.
It also doesn’t mean that your natural gifts and talents are not valuable. It just means your core values are not in alignment with your current job.
It’s your responsibility to determine what you would rather be doing instead.
