Let Your Authentic Self Shine

Do you ever feel the weight of a mask you wear to do your job? If so, here’s a refreshing reminder of the freedom that comes with being your authentic self.

Feeling the need to censor yourself in your career can be mentally exhausting.

It’s like wearing a mask for 12 hours a day.

Some people do this all the time.

This constant act can take a toll on your well-being.

That’s why I do not recommend masking your authentic self.

You are who you are for a reason.

There is strength and personal power in letting the light of your authentic self shine.

No one else can do that but YOU.

The alternative to masking your authentic self to do your job is to be clear about your strengths and leverage them.

Not only is this good for your mental health, but it also makes you more appealing to potential clients, business associates, and everyone you meet.

People can smell it on you when you’re faking it.

They may not be aware, but some part of them picks up on those clues.

People can also tell when you are being authentic.

Authenticity is a way to make others feel at ease.

You are much easier to connect with if you are unafraid to speak your truth and be authentic.

Authenticity is a superpower because it elicits trust— and people do business with those they know, like, and trust.

The scripted sales techniques from the 1970s are no longer valid.

Showing up as the best version of YOU is the best sales technique you could have— even (and especially) when the thing you are “selling” is yourself.
