Your Best Self Empowerment Tool

Are you on a self empowerment mission? In this audio clip, you’ll learn about one of the most effective tools you have for accomplishing that mission.

Self empowerment is something every human is interested in.

It’s easier to be true to yourself when you feel good about yourself.

One of the most effective self empowerment tools is language. Specifically, it’s the language you use with yourself.

How do you speak to yourself when you’re dealing with a challenge or a disappointment?

As a coach, I have found that many people are not kind to themselves in the language they use. And they are often unaware of this tendency.

Self-talk is a form of self-hypnosis.

It affects how you feel about yourself in a profound way, because your inner voice is the most powerful voice in your life.

This is why I am a stickler for helping my clients discover how they use their self talk in negative ways.

If you feel you could benefit from more self-empowerment, I encourage you to start noticing how you speak to yourself.

Do you negate positive statements about yourself with buts?

Celebrating our accomplishments (even the small ones) is a wonderful self-empowerment tool. But when you say but after a celebratory or positive statement, you disparage your own celebration.

Start noticing what you say after the but. Is it a phrase that sets you back or indicates you don’t really trust yourself?

If so, you are likely disparaging or negating an otherwise self-empowering statement.

Do you often use terms or phrases about yourself that are derogatory or self effacing?

Another thing to notice is when there are negative automatic responses you use if someone gives you a compliment or when you are talking about yourself.

These responses become habits over time, and we don’t realize how much they undermine our self empowerment.

Any language that sets you up for feeling badly about yourself is something I would encourage you to eliminate from your expression, whether it’s something you say out loud or something you say in your own head.
