Are you feeling less than joyful about your current job? Here’s a perspective that may give you some insight and food for thought.
Any job, no matter how unsatisfactory, can be approached as a self improvement challenge.
Let me explain what I mean…
I think of life’s purpose as a two-sided coin.
One side is about who we were meant to be.
The other side is related to learning and growth— or what I call core life lessons.
Most people have one big core life lesson.
Sometimes there are two, but when that’s the case, the second one is usually related in some way to the first.
Your core life lesson is what you came here to master.
Very often, we choose jobs that provide us with the perfect set of circumstances to work on our core life lessons.
When we look at it in this way, any job can be a perfect job.
Spiritually perfect, that is— because it offers us a self-improvement challenge, i.e., an ideal container for learning and growth.
If you happen to find yourself in a job that doesn’t feed your soul, take a moment to inquire what opportunities for learning and growth it may be providing you with.
Perhaps life is inviting you to:
- Discover inner strengths or gifts.
- Overcome a self-defeating set of beliefs.
- Become better at something.
- Learn a new skill that will be useful in the future.
This way of thinking sets you up to get the most out of whatever job you are doing.
And maybe when you get the lesson, you’ll be ready to move on to the next job for a new set of challenges and growth opportunities.
